About Pence Pedagogical Consulting LLC

My Story

Zach Pence, owner of Pence Pedagogical Consulting LLC, has been working in the field of K-12 education since he began substitute teaching during his master's program in 2013.

He graduated from the University of Louisville with bachelor's degrees in Philosophy and English Literature in 2012, and he continued his education in 2013 by pursuing an M.A.T. in Secondary English Language Arts from the same institution. He soon thereafter obtained certification as an English teacher in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Pence didn't go into teaching directly out of university. Instead, he decided to join the wage-laborers at Medline Industries in their trade-unionist struggles for better pay and benefits. After that, he spent a year as a counselor at The Home of the Innocents, where he academically tutored a plethora of students with severe learning disabilities and behavioral problems, helping them to self-regulate their chaotic emotions so each could better focus on his learning. After this, Pence briefly changed careers and began counseling (TCADC) patients diagnosed with severe substance use disorders and typically as well as co-morbid mental health disorders. Pence's experience at HOTI taught him how to work with emotionally dysregulated children and adolescents effectively, and Center for Behavioral Health taught him how to use his formal knowledge of curriculum and instructional design theory to produce effective and potent psychoeducational treatment interventions for his patients.

Since then, Pence has been employed as a substitute teacher in the Hardin County Public School system, where he applies his ability to manage young persons by using his clinical knowledge of emotional and behavioral self-regulation skills and strategies.

The evidence is clear: If you want a very knowledgeable and approachable academic tutor who is proficient in multiple disciplinary domains and who has spent decades now studying psychological science, philosophy, and educational theory to improve his pedagogical practice, then Zach Pence is the tutor for you. Client Stories

Joe S. Stalins

Zach did a great job teaching my son how to read and write better. He was behind his friends at the start. After three months of tutoring, his teachers were amazed at the turn-around. Zach understands that private tutoring can be a financial burden, so he worked with us to make it work with our budget. He's a real decent person.

Trina Cambell

Zach taught my 15-year-old son for two months for free. We told him our son needed help, but that we couldn't afford to pay to start, but we would eventually. Zach tutored him and gave him so much more confidence. He's not just a teacher, but a counselor, and he knows how to help young people like my son.

Good Will Solidarity Publishing LLC

Pence Pedagogical Consulting LLC has done a great job helping our publishing wing get off the ground. We can count on Zach to help us to both substantively and copy edit our texts prior to publication, and we can count on him to help give us advice on what the Movement likely needs theoretically to keep it moving along and accomplishing the results we desire. Zach's a pro!
